Visarjan of Ganesh Idol

Ganesh chaturthi celebrated mainly for 5, 7, 9, & 11days. After completion of these days after  puja of lord ganesha statues is performed by the head of the family with the help of Bhataji. Once the puja is held local people and family members sings the traditional ganesh aarti before the immersion of lord ganesh statues and the worship concluded by offering mantrapushpanjali. Everyone should offer akshata onto shri Ganesh hand and move the idol a little with right hand.

After the completion of all rituals the idol is immersed in flowing water. When taking the Ganesh idol for immersion, we shold also curd, puffed rice, coconut, modak etc. As provision for the journey. Aarti should be performed once again beside the reservoir of water intended for immersion and then the idol immersed along with the provisions into the flowing water.

Cultural programmes perform during the ganesh chaturthi

The main cultural program during the time of ganesh chaturthi are Aarti, Bhajan, Fugdi and some other religious program. The Aarti people sings mainly after the completion of ganesh puja. People also sing other gods aarti along with ganpati aarti. Aarti is done with the ghee diya or burning camphor. Aarti is a song which is sung to admire god ganesh with the help of different type of musical instruments i.e Harmonium, Banjo, Tabala, Ghumat, kasoli, etc. Aarti means complete love, honour towards god ganesh. Singing aarti indicate completion of puja and elimate the evil from the human mind and environment. 

Like aarti people perform bhajan during the time of ganesh festival in front of lord ganesh statue in their home. Bhajan is usually a group event with one or more lead singer accompanied by subordinate with different type of musical instruments. Bhajan mainly Abhang which was written by great sadhu santa.


Fugdi

There is also one more program called fugdi which was performed during the time of ganesh festival. Fugdi perform on the occasion of ganesh chaturthi and some other puja time. Fugdi, women sung the songs related to puranic, stories, family life, complaint rivalries of people. Fugdi is dance in a circle or by row of dances. This dance is performed by en acting few fixed steps, hand gestures and hand laps. It is not accompany  by any type of musical instrument.

Special sweets for ganesh festival

                      STEAMED MODAK
This is one of the most popular sweet dish and is made during ganesh chaturthi.It is made from rice flour and in marathi it is termed as ukadiche modak, that is basically steamed modak. This sweet is also loved by ganesha.

FRIED MODAKFried modak are also made during ganesh chaturthi. It is made from wheat flour that included grated coconut and jaggery.


MOTICHOOR LADDOO
Motichoor laddoo is most popular traditional Indian sweet dish made from gram flour besan. It is one of the favorite dish of lord ganesha.


KARANJI
Karanji are another sweet dish, deep fried and made up of dough, flour and bread that included grated coconut and sugar. It has a sweet and crunchy filling mixed with dough. It is one of the popular dish which are made at the time of ganesh festival.

Celebration of ganesh chaturthi

The festival of ganesh chaturthi is one of the main and important festival among other festival celebrated by Hindu family in our country.This festival was celebrated especially in maharashtra and Goa as a special festival.On the day of muhurta i.e Bhadrapad shudh chaturthi. Hindu family member brings their home statues of idol ganesh and install the statues of lord ganesha in their beautiful decorated temporary mandir with flower, different types of lights, thermocol decoration. After perform of installation family member worships the idol of the lord ganesh both the time with the help of priest (pujari) till the time of emersion of statues of ganesh idol. During the time of pooja family members do prayers, sing devotional songs, Aarti, Bhajan, Fugdi. People also offers different type of flower, fruits, bunch of 21 durva, 21 modak as a Nevedhy, Dhoop, Agarbatti etc. This festival was celebrated for 5,7,11,21, days.
